An indigenous Chakma girl attempted to rape by four Bengali settlers in Rangamati
On 5 June 2012 a 16-year old Chakma girl was attempted to rape by four settler youths at the area of Munsi Abdur Rob Monument (on Rangamati-Chittagong road) of Manikchari under Rangamati sadar upazila in Rangamati district.
It is learnt that on that day around 11.00 am the victim went to Rangamati Women College to submit admission form for 1st year of higher secondary course. After submission of her admission form at the college, she contacted with her father Mr. Jyoti Chakma over cell phone. As her father asked her to come at Banarupa, she came at main road in front of the office of the Superintendent of Police of Rangamati district to take auto-rickshaw.
At that time an auto-rickshaw carrying four Bengali youths reached there and she got into this auto-rickshaw. Soon after getting the auto-rickshaw, she was compelled by Bengali youths to sit at the middle seat of the auto-rickshaw. Then the Bengali youths held her mouth and hair tight so that she cannot shout and move, then the auto-rickshaw was taken directly to the area of Munsi Abdur Rob Monument on Rangamati-Chittagong road). Then the Bengali youths forcefully took her at the jungle near Ejor restaurant of Munsi Abdur Rob Monument and attempted to rape her there. However, the culprits fled sensing presence of some Jumma youths who went there to see Munsi Abdur Rob Monument.
