An indigenous Marma girl attempted to kidnap by Bengali settlers in Kaukhali
On 21 March 2014, four Bengali settlers attempted to kidnap an indigenous girl using narcotic drugs at Betbunia union in Kaukhali upazila under Rangamati district. The victim is a student of grade IX of Betbunia High School from Shialbukkya village.
It is learnt that the victim was going to school as usual. Little extent from home four settlers’ youths attempted to kidnap by using narcotic drugs. The victim shouted and people from surrounding place rushed there and rescued her. After giving first aid at Kaukhali bazaar, the victim was taken to her home. Since many days Bengali settlers were teasing the girl. All criminals are the member of Bangladesh Chatra League, student wing of Awami Laegue. Mother of the victim Ushaiching Marma filed a case against Shihab Uddin under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Kaukhali police station. Case file no. 2/22/3/2014. The alleged perpetrators were:
1. Md. Shihab Uddin (23), s/o Khorshed Mistri from Purba Adarsha Gram, Kalampati Union and president of Bangladesh Chatra League;
2. Md. Layek (20) from same place;
3. Md. Nasir (19) from same village;
4. Md. Monir Hossain (25) from same village.
