An indigenous woman teacher abducted in Panchagarh district
On 30 March 2013 a 21-year old indigenous woman from Bodhinajoth village of Omorkhana union under Panchagarh sadar upazila in Panchagarh district was abducted by Maruf Chowdhury (21) with the help of Meraj Uddhin Chowdhury (30) and Mahbub Rahman (31). The victim is an assistant teacher of Pelkujoth Government Primary School.
It is learnt that on that day the victim was coming back from school, and during her way back home at about 4.30 pm to 5.00 pm Md. Maruf kidnapped her. Soon after abduction, the victim’s brother informed with Panchagarh police station, but police did not accept his written complaint as well as police did not register any case file against the abductor. Even, police did not take any action to rescue the woman or to arrest the kidnapper and his friends. The victim’s mobile phone is still switch off, and no one knows about her. Sometimes the victim’s brother received phone call from unknown number from Maruf saying that not to file any case because the victim got marry him in love, not in force. Finally victim’s father Mirja Singh was able to file a kidnapping case (cane no. 2 dated 03/04/2013) against Maruf Chowdhury, Meraj Uddhin Chowdhury and Mahbub Rahman with Panchagarh police station. But police did not arrest any alleged person.
