Attack on an indigenous Koch family in Mymensingh, 2 injured
On 9 May 2014, a group of miscreants attacked on an indigenous family at Chatiyarchala village of Kachina union under Bhaluka upazila in Mymensing district. During the attack, two statues of Hindu Goddess were also vandalized by the attackers.
According to the villagers, on that day of the incident, Khalilur Rahman and Sharif from the same village along with 10 to 12 miscreants attacked on the house of indigenous man Rahim Koch, 55, and his adjacent temple. The attackers vandalized the temple and two statues of the Goddess. On the spot Rahim Koch and his wife Renu Barman have tried to prevent the gang from the attack. However, they failed and got injured during the attack of the culprits. Hearing the news of the incident, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mr. Sarowar Hossain and Officer-in-charge of Bhaluka police station Mr. Moniruzzaman inspected the spot immediately and took necessary steps to send the victims to the Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex. On the same day at night, police arrested Shahjahan, son of Ajmot Ali from the same village in this connection.
It is learnt that they victim and the perpetrator had some disputes before the occurrence of the incident and the perpetrator had been threatening the victim in this connection.
