Indigenous Khasi girl found dead in Moulvibazar
On 30 January 2015, an indigenous Khasi girl named MonalisaNongkrot, 18, daughter of late John Potham, ofGandhaiPunji under Borolekhaupazilla of Moulvibazar district was found dead in the GandhaiPunji areas.
It is learnt that, on the day at around 8:00 am, Monalisa went to work in the paanjum(betel leaf garden) of GandhaiPunji like any other day. AsMonalisa remained missing till 2:00 pm, her mother got anxious and started searching for her. Later, at around 4:00 pm, the dead body of Monalisa was found fully soaked in blood on the foot of a hillnear the paanjum area.There are cuts on her neck. It is alleged thatshe was stabbed to death by miscreant(s). However, the motive behind her murder is still unknown.
Later on the same day (30 January)in the evening police rescued the dead body of Monalisa and taken to the hospital for an autopsy. Police returned the dead body of Monalisa to her family members on 31 January at around 3:30 pm.
Police is yet to trace and take actions against the perpetrators. On 30 January 2015 in the evening, Lean Nongkrot, maternal uncle of the victim, filed a case with Borolekha police station.
