Meeting on implementation of CHT Accord held in Rangamati decides to amend CHT Land Commission Act soon
On 28 January 2015 a view-exchange meeting on implementation of CHT Accord with all the concerned parties was held at CHT Development Board premises at the initiative undertaken by Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts.The meeting was presided over by BirBahadurUshweShing, State Minister, Ministry of CHT Affairs. Dr. Gowhar Rizvi, External Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister was present as the Chief Guest. Among other, CHT Regional Council Chairman and President of PCJSS Mr. JyotirindraBodhipriyaLarma; Chairman of Task Force on India-returnee Jumma Refugees and Internally Displaced refugees, Mr. JyotindraLal Tripura; newly appointed Chairman of CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission Justice (rtd)Anowar-ul-Haque; threeMPs from CHT; three chairmen of three Hill District Councils; three chiefs of three circle of the CHT attended the meeting. Besides, three secretaries of CHT Affairs Ministry,Land Ministry and Law and Parliamentary Ministry, Chittagong Divisional Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioners of the three hill districts were also present in the meeting.
In the meeting, it was resolved that as per the 13-point amendment proposal adopted by the CHT Accord Implementation Committee meeting held on 20 January 2015, the Amendment Bill of CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act 2001 would be raised in the current winter session of the Parliament. Besides, advancement on implementation of CHT Accord was also discussed in the meeting.
Earlier, on 20 January 2015 a meeting of the CHT Accord Implementation Committee was held at the office of Deputy Leader of the JatiyaSangsad in Dhaka with convener of the Committee SyedaSajeda Chowdhury in the chair. The other two members of the Committee namely PCJSS president JyotirindraBodhipriyaLarma and Task Force chairman JatindraLal Tripura attended the meeting. Besides, Dr. Gowhar Rizvi, advisor to PM; chairman of parliamentary standing committee on CHT affairs ministry Moktadir Chowdhury; state minister for CHT affairs BirBahadur and secretary of CHT ministry NabaBikram Kishore Tripura were also present in the meeting.
The CHT Accord Implementation Committee meeting adopted the 13-point amendment proposalsof CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act 2001 unanimously.
