Justice for all kinds of violence against indigenous women demanded

Leaders of the indigenous women’s organisations demanded to ensure justice to the indigenous women by taking necessary step to stop all kind of violence against indigenous women. They said that the biggest concern in brutal violence against indigenous women was the lack of access to justice and absolute impunity that perpetrators enjoy. Violence against indigenous women both in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and plain land were successively increasing due to failing bringing perpetrators to the justice, indigenous women leaders alleged.

Book titled ‘Compendium on National and International Laws and Indigenous Peoples in Bangladesh’ unveiled

On 27 June 2011 a book launching program was held at the National Planning Academy hosted by Kapaeeng Foundation and Oxfam-GB. The law book entitled ‘Compendium on National and International Laws and Indigenous Peoples in Bangladesh’ was edited by the Chakma circle chief Barrister Devasish Roy, assistant attorney general Pratikar Chakma and lawyer Shirin Lira. The program was presided over by Mr. Rabindranath Soren, chairperson of the Kapaeeng Foundation while former chief justice of Bangladesh and also the caretaker government chief adviser Muhammad Habibur Rahman was present as the chief guest.

Regional Consultation on ILO Convention No. 107 and 169 and Indigenous Peoples Issues in Dinajpur, Bangladesh

On 10 March 2011 the Regional Consultations on ILO convention No.107 and 169 and Indigenous Peoples Issues in Bangladesh were held at Family Planning Association Auditorium, Ghasipara, Dinajpur organized by Jatiya Adibasi Parishad and Kapaeeng Foundation (KF) in cooperation with International Labour Organization, Bangladesh.
At first, a formal inaugural session took place in the program. Mr. Rabindranath Soren, General Secretary of Jatiya Adibasi Parishad and Chairperson of Kapaeeng Foundation presided over the meeting while Mr. Mohammad Jamaluddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Dinajpur was present as the chief guest.

Discussion meeting on Indigenous Peoples and their rights of Constitutional Recognition held in Rajshahi

On 5 November 2010a discussion meeting on indigenous peoples of Bangladesh and their rights of constitutional recognition was held at Rajshahi Camber of Commerce and Industries Auditorium in Rajshahi. This meeting was jointly organized by Jatiyo Adibasi Parishad and Kapaeeng Foundation. Honorable member of the Parliament and central leader of Workers Party of Bangladesh Mr. Fazle Hossain Badsha was the chief guest while Professor Hasan Azizul Haque, Advocate Hamidul Haque, Professor Fazlul Haque, Mr. Prashanta Saha, Bimal Chandra Rajuar, Mr. Mustafijur Rahman, Mr. Shakti Pada tripura, Anil Marandi et al were also spoke on the occasion.

Media and human rights team visits to investigate Niamotpur incident

On 29 September 2010 KF sent a media and human rights team comprising reporters from The Daily Kaler Khontho, The Daily Star and The New Age and representatives from ASK, IED, BIPF, Sammilito Samajik Andolon, SUPRO and KF headed by veteran Pankaj Bhattachariya to investigate Niamotpur incident.
